What Went Wrong With Phil Dunster and the Rest of the Missing Cast Members?

The Ted Lasso Team Gets a Shake-Up
I was watching an episode of my favorite show the other day and I started thinking about how some characters are no longer part of it. You know, those guys who used to be on the team but aren’t now? Yeah, those ones.
The fourth season of Ted Lasso is in production, and we’ve just gotten our first look at the cast list. Now, most of the main stars from seasons 1-3 are back, including Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift, Brett Goldstein, and Brendan Hunt. But there’s a surprising number of people missing.
The Absent Cast Members
Some big names aren’t returning for Ted Lasso season 4. You might be wondering who it is. Well, let me tell you – it includes Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt, Nick Mohammed as Nathan ‘Nate’ Shelley, Sarah Niles as Dr Sharon M Fieldstone, Anthony Head as Rupert Mannion, Toheeb Jimoh as Samuel ‘Sam’ Obisanya, Cristo Fernández as Dani Rojas, Kola Bokinni as Isaac McAdoo, Billy Harris as Colin Hughes, and James Lance as Trent Crimm.
Now, before you start worrying that some of your favorite characters are gone for good, know that it’s not a hard no. Some of these actors could still show up in future episodes or even make a guest appearance.
The Reasons Behind the Absences
So why aren’t they coming back? Well, let me tell you – it has nothing to do with the show ending. In fact, season 4 is already in production and seems like it’s going to be just as good as the previous ones. But there are a few reasons why some actors aren’t returning.
For one thing, the focus of the new season might not be on the same characters that were the main stars of seasons 1-3. This could explain why Jamie Tartt isn’t included in the cast list. Oh, and by the way – Phil Dunster just told us that he’s still a part of the show.
Another reason some actors aren’t back is because they might have other commitments. Take Cristo Fernández, for example. He told ScreenRant last year that he’d love to see more Ted Lasso and hinted at maybe doing some guest work in season 4.
The Players Are Still There
Even though the main cast isn’t as big as it used to be, there are still plenty of great actors who’ll show up in future episodes. Toheeb Jimoh told The Big Issue that he’s always happy to support his friends behind the camera and would definitely come back if they asked him.
So, while some characters might not be on the show anymore, don’t worry – Ted Lasso is still going strong. And who knows? Maybe we’ll see some of these absent cast members pop up in future episodes after all.
That’s my take on it, anyway.
