Tenoch Huerta, a Mexican actor who has been in films like The Forever Purge and Tigers Are Not Afraid, will play Namor here, with his version of the character drawing inspiration from Mesoamerican mythology and history. “You may take Atlantis from Greek myth, or you can adapt from a real culture,” Huerta says. In the film, he is the king of Talocan, not Atlantis, and he is brought to the surface by the consequences of T’Challa’s decision in the final reel of Black Panther to reveal the truth of Wakanda to the world.
