Amazon made it official today that it wants to make a new TV show based on the popular God of War games. This is in line with a March rumour that the company was trying to make the famous PlayStation property into a streaming show.

In March, Deadline reported that Amazon and Sony were talking about turning the hit video game series into a high-budget streaming TV show. At the time, it was said that Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the creators and executive producers of The Expanse, along with Rafe Judkins, the executive producer and showrunner for The Wheel of Time, would run the project with help from Sony and PlayStation.

Today, Amazon confirmed that the news was true.

The Amazon Prime Video Twitter account gave a hint about the upcoming PlayStation 4 release of God of War by saying, “God of War is coming” and posting a screenshot of Kratos and Atreus from the game.

The March reports were confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, which got more information from Amazon. The roles of showrunner and executive producer have been filled. Judkins will run the show, and Fergus and Ostby will write scripts and oversee production. The project will be done by Sony Pictures TV, Amazon Studios, and PlayStation Productions.

God of War, which had been talked about for a long time, finally came out in 2018, and everyone loved it. God of War: Ragnarok, the game’s sequel, came out in 2022. It quickly became a strong contender for several Game of the Year awards.

Prime Video isn’t just getting God of War, though. Recently, the makers of Westworld showed the first picture from their live-action Fallout series for the company.
