After undergoing seven CoolSculpting sessions at a dermatologist’s office between August 2015 and February 2016, Evangelista filed a complaint in September against Zeltiq Aesthetics CoolSculpting, demanding $50 million in damages on the grounds that she has been unable to work since.

Failure of Plastic Surgery for Linda Evangelista
Within three months of finishing her treatments, Linda Evangelista had swelling in her chin, thighs, and breasts. The areas she hoped would shrink were actually growing. And hardening into a corner. They felt nothing further after that.
“I tried to solve it myself,” Evangelista says, “thinking I was doing something wrong.” She began a more rigorous diet and exercise regimen as a result. I stopped eating because I was so stressed. “At first, I thought I was losing my mind.”
In June of 2016, she made it to the doctor. “I threw off my robe for him,” she said. “ Amid sobbing, “I haven’t eaten, I’m famished,” I realised that I wasn’t genuinely hungry. If you’re asking yourself, “What have I done wrong?” ” He told her she had paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), and she responded, “As in, “What the hell is that? ” He also told me that diets and exercise would never be enough to get rid of it.
The freezing procedure used in CoolSculpting causes adipose tissue to thicken and enlarge, but this only happens in a tiny fraction of individuals (less than 1 percent). As a professor of plastic surgery at New York’s Northwell School of Medicine, Dr. Alan Matarasso calls this “the disagreeable part” (he has never treated Evangelista). When patients reduce something, it ends up being magnified. Eventually, PAH could have some negative effects. Liposuction, nevertheless, is no longer a viable option for many trouble spots.
CoolSculpting in conjunction with cosmetic surgery
Even rare adverse events, such as PAH, “continue to be well-documented in the CoolSculpting information for patients and health care providers,” as Evangelista Launch CoolSculpting explained in an interview with PEOPLE. The procedure “has been well studied with more than 100 scientific publications and more than 11 million treatments performed worldwide.”
CoolSculpting is a technique that uses cryolipolysis and was approved by the FDA in 2010. Attempting to replicate frostbite, a roll of fat is sandwiched between two paddles and chilled to sub-zero temperatures. The operation can be done in a medical spa, and it has been shown in studies to reduce localised fat deposits by 20%.
