Nicole Kidman is being honoured with a prize that will never expire. On Tuesday, it was announced that Kidman, 55, would receive the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award, which the AFI Board of Trustees described as “the highest award for a career in film.”

On Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Kidman, who can currently be seen in The Northman, will be honoured with an award and tribute. She has made history by becoming the first Australian actor to win the AFI Life Achievement Award, as stated in the press release.
The AFI Board of Trustees chair, Kathleen Kennedy, said in a statement released on Tuesday, “Nicole Kidman has enchanted audiences for decades with the daring of her inventiveness and the charm of a film icon.”
Adding, “she is a force, courageous in her decisions and bold in her performances.” She is the recipient of the 49th annual AFI Life Achievement Award, which the American Film Institute is honoured to present.
Kidman has been nominated for and won numerous awards throughout the course of her four-decade career, including the 2003 Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Hours. Kidman has also garnered a BAFTA, two Emmys, and six Golden Globes.
In her 55 years as an actress, Kidman has proven herself to be a versatile talent. Throughout her career, she has preferred to work with forward-thinking directors like Jane Campion, Sofia Coppola, Baz Luhrmann, Anthony Minghella, Sydney Pollack, Lars von Trier, and Stanley Kubrick.
The actress will soon be seen in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and the Amazon feature Holland, Michigan, bringing her total film credits to nearly 90.
